Sergey Mironov’s visit
Sergey Mironov, speaker of the Council of the Federation and the chairman of the political party “Fair Russia” arrived in Ekaterinburg on February 26, 2010. The visit’s program was quite intense. Sergey Mironov inspected the situation with shabby houses in the Ekaterinburg, participated in a protest meeting against high utilities tariffs, met with the electorate and suggested to re-consider the structure of the regional government and its staff.
Vyacheslav Volodin’s visit
Governor of Sverdlovsk Region met with Vyacheslav Volodin, Secretary of the Presidium of the General Council of United Russia. They visited the town of Sysert and Patrushi village where the local industrial giant, UMMC-Holding, owns an agricultural farm. In Ekaterinburg high profile officials held a meeting with the voters in the reception office of United Russia.
Tanks in the woods
Local dwellers accidentally found over 200 T-72 tanks in the forest. The discovery was made in the proximity of a military base near the village Kalininskoe. Combat equipment was found covered in snow and completely unguarded. Manholes of the tanks were open and anyone could easily get inside the vehicles. Military base administration reports that the tanks were being transported to a new location, but the prosecutor service started checking out the incident anyway.
Liquidation of companies
Titanium Corporation VSMPO-Avisma announced closure of four affiliated companies: VSMPO Forge-and-Press Instrument Ltd, Tirus Trading House Ltd, VSMPO-Instrument Ltd and VSMPO-Machinery and Repair Plant Ltd.
Corporate Department Director Svetlana Muravieva reports that the decision to close down these subsidiaries came necessary because these companies did not run any operations.

Election campaign brings new surprises every day. Four candidates in Karabash may lose the right to participate in the elections because accidentally their records of conviction came to light. In Verkhny Ufalei another candidate, Tatyana Sofjina, was also denied the right to participate because she used an image of a popular cartoon character in her election campaign booklets.
Annual report of the governor
Governor of Chelyabinsk Region Pyotr Sumin presented annual report of social and economic development of the region to the Legislative Assembly on February 25, 2010. The goal for this year is to recover from the crisis, maintain social stability and support the labor market.
Kurgan Region
Transportation of grain
Parliament of the region approved official address to the Federal tariff service regarding exclusive tariffs for transportation of grain by railroads. Exclusive tariffs were introduced in Siberian, Far Eastern and Central Federal Districts and proved to be an efficient measure of support for the agricultural producers. Kurgan Region hopes to be included in this lucky list.
Guests from Moscow
Secretary of the Presidium of the General Council of United Russia Vyacheslav Volodin came to Kurgan on February 26, 2010. He met with the regional parliament’s speaker and members of the United Russia fraction.
One more high profile guest from Moscow visited Kurgan last week. Vice-chairman of the State Duma Committee on labor and social policy Oleg Shein went to the town of Shadrinsk and inspected a number of industrial and agricultural venues there. Being a member of Fair Russia he criticized the Russian parliament, 70 percent of which are members of the ruling party (United Russia).
