Tyumen Region
Visit of the Prime Minister
Prime Minister of Russia Vladimir Putin arrived in Tyumen region last week. At first he visited school # 88, which is an experimental venue for introducing innovative technologies in education.
He then visited Tyumen’s Oil Scientific Center (TNK-BP subsidiary). Vladimir Putin also chaired a meeting of the Presidium of the President’s Council on the implementation of national priority projects, with two questions being on top of the agenda: education system reform and home loans reform.
Minister of Healthcare of Russia Tatyana Golikova gave high assessment to the condition of Tyumen’s healthcare system, when she visited the region together with the Russian Prime Minister.
Local mass media
Nine mass media agencies stopped operations in Tyumen Region, including four local newspapers and several magazines. A number of agencies did not have proper registration. Three print media were closed down after a corresponding court decree was issued.
Khanty-Mansiisk Autonomous District
Sportswomen from Yugra win
Ekaterina Ilyukhin won silver medal in the Ladies’ Parallel Giant Slalom in Vancouver. This sportswoman started her career in snowboarding in 2006 in Khanty-Mansiisk. She became the gold medal winner in the Russia championship in 2009.
Russian biathlon ladies’ team became gold medalists in biathlon relay, the team included Svetlana Sleptsova from Khanty-Mansiisk. Governor of Yugra was among the first people who congratulated her with the victory.
Antimonopoly service
Federal antimonopoly service of the District started investigation of operations of the country’s leading communications provider Uralsvyazinform. USI is accused of setting up different tariffs for one product thus violating antimonopoly legislation.
Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District
Minimal pay
The District’s Commission for labor relations held a meeting in Salekhard on February 27, 2010. It was decided that the minimal pay in Yamal should make 9,536 rubles a month. This will help raise wages of the least advantaged workers and also to cope with the so called shadow salaries.
New governor
Deputies of the Legislative Assembly of Yamal will hold an extracurricular meeting on March 3, 2010. New governor of the District, Dmitry Kobylkin, will then officially enter the office.
