Governor’s blog
Ministry of Healthcare of Russia checked out activities of the regional healthcare service in relation to the fire at Khromaya Loshad night club, when over 150 people died. All case materials have been classified, ‘for official use only”.
Governor of Perm Region Oleg Chirkunov hurried up to calm down the public by publishing his comments in a personal blog. “I don’t feel any tension in regard with the Ministry’s check”, Oleg Chirkunov said. The documents contained personal information about the victims of the fire and still had to be reviewed and signed by the governor before any public announcement.
Corruption
Senior military prosecutor of Russia Sergey Fridinsky declared that chief engineer of Perm could be suited for bribery. It appears, the military body which owned the notorious night club was aware of fire safety violations, but ignored them. A criminal investigation of this case has already started.
Deputy’s troubles
Legislation Assembly of Perm Region deputy, Andrey Agishev, held a special press conference commenting on the accusation put forward against him by the prosecutor’s office. He is suspected in conducting illegal business activities by rending his real estate. The deputy called this case a fully “political” one.
Potassium producers
Perm’s industrial giants, UralKali and Silvinit published operational results for 2009. The year was difficult and it showed in the data.
UralKali produced 2.621 million tons of marketable potassium chloride, which is 45.3 percent less than in 2008. Silvinit produced 3.5 million tons of potassium, also showing results below last year’s.
New oil well
Oil professionals officially announced discovery of a new oil pool in the Perm Region. According to preliminary survey, the volume of the well estimates 300 thousand tons of oil. The pool belongs to North Tavda structure, resources of which probably make over 1 million tons. Two more prospecting wells will be bored in the coming years.
