Alexander Misharin is going to replace Eduard Rossel in the seat of the governor of Sverdlovsk Region. Local authorities had to introduce special regime for places of mass gatherings of people and universities cancelled classes due to fast spread of viral infection. Sverdlovsk Region

New governor

President Dmitry Medvedev put forward Alexander Misharin for the post of the governor of Sverdlovsk Region. This decision did not come easy or fast. Now this candidate needs to be approved by the Regional Duma. Liberal Democratic Party has already reported they wait “revolution” from this new person.

Quarantine

Medical officials of Sverdlovsk Region introduced regime of continuing quarantine. The number of people having viral and respiratory infections has grown by 85.2% recently. Educational establishments of all levels cancelled classes for at least a week. Quarantine will be over when the wave of infection reduces.

New appointments

Ural Tourist Association has elected new President – Dmitry Bugrov who currently is also Rector of the Ural State University.

Director of the State Television and Radio Company “Ural” Konstantin Protopopov left his position. He is in Moscow now and will most likely be employed at a federal telecommunications agency. Alexander Shukshin has been appointed acting director of “Ural”.

New markets for titanium

Corporation VSMPO-Avisma is expanding the list of its big partners by accepting more orders. The company actively cooperates with both Russian and foreign customers. Together with Boeing VSMPO builds an enterprise for mechanical processing of die stampings for civil aviation in Verkhnyaya Salda.

The corporation also made a deal with Goodrish Actuation Systems for a number of types of titanium stampings. VSMPO also plans to work with BOSCH ZFLS in the project of extending casting workshop into a separate production line.

VSMPO-Avisma is also looking for the new market outlets. All profile products of the company were presented at the International Industrial Exhibition Metall-Expo recently, that is, titanium products, magnesium and aluminum forgings.

Chelyabinsk Region

Russian Railways

Viktor Popov has been appointed new director of the South Ural division of the Russian Railways. Governor Pyotr Sumin and President of the company Vladimir Yakunin introduced him to the office last week. Former director of the South Ural Railways Vladimir Moldaver has been transferred to Moscow division of the company.

Innovations

Vladimir Myakush, chairman of the regional government, participated in a panel session of the Council of law-makers of Russia. Chelyabinsk Region has been included in the list of Russian regions with the high level in innovative activities. There is much legal work done here to support innovations. Regional law on stimulation of innovative activities defines objectives and tasks of the state bodies as well as the forms of support of innovations.

Tyumen Region

Budgeting

The budget of Tyumen Region for 2009 has again been reviewed and increased. Additional earnings and expenses totally make 16.147 billion rubles. Deficit of the budget remains the same – 31.2 billion rubles.

Heating problem

Last week Tyumen experienced a major breakdown at the central heating pipeline. 34 apartment buildings, 3 kindergartens and 2 hospitals were left without central heating and hot water. Although social objects were reconnected to the system quickly, people in apartment blocks stayed without heat and hot water for over 24 hours.

Khanty-Mansiisk Autonomous District - Yugra

Video connection with the President

Current governor of Yugra Alexander Filipenko will be included in the list of 3 candidates for the post of the governor of the District for the next term.

Last week he also held a meeting devoted to the problems faced by social sphere establishments. President Medvedev participated in the meeting by video connection.

Scientific congress

Leading scientists and researchers of Russia gathered in Khanty-Mansiisk at a conference. All are participants of various federal programs. They reported results of implementation of their research work, testing and project development process in the sphere of information and telecommunications.

Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District

Social budget

Deputies of the Legislative Assembly of the District held discussions regarding the budget for 2010. Governor Yury Neelov underlined pro-social character of the budget expenses. There are 46 special purpose social programs with total financing of 7.6 billion rubles, which is 67% more than this year. Additionally the regional government plans to allocate 18 billion rubles within three years for the support of home construction.
