Investments cut down
Minister of industry and energy of Zabaikalsky Region Oleg Polyakov stated last week that the government was going to find at least 9-10 billion rubles for the project of construction of the railroad Naryn-Lugokan. This route plays the key part in the development of natural resources of the south-eastern part of the region. The federal budget has already invested 5 billions into the construction of 130 kilometers of the railway embankment for this route.
The original plan of investments for 2009 showed the figure of 11.5 billion rubles. Regional authorities however expect this project to fall under the sequestered issues of the budget due to the financial situation in the world.
Copper and nickel
“BuryatZoloto” rejected the license for the right of research and industrial development of sulphide copper-nickel ore of Chaisky deposit in Buryatia. Experts from the Holding SeverStal evaluated resources of this deposit at 626 thousand tons of nickel and 142 thousand tons of copper.
BuryatZoloto won the auction offering 260 million rubles (with 100 millions as start price). But the company officially announced refusal and stated that the first tranche of 4.15 million dollars (made in February 2008) had been written off.
Baikalsk
Employees of the Baikalsk Pulp and Paper Plant did not get paid their official salaries yet. Despite multiple promises of the Plant’s administration, the plant isn’t pays wage arrears. Mount Sobolinaya resort has been sold from the Plant’s assets, but the money hasn’t been directed to pay wages as had been promised. Plant’s labor union submitted petition against the plant to the prosecutor.

Chairman of the Legislative Chamber of the Great Khural of the Republic of Tuva Vasily Oyun has again become the subject of a criminal case. The case was started months ago and was closed in February, but after a check conducted by an investigation committee of the Russian Prosecution the case has been re-opened. Vasily Oyun is accused of illegal entrepreneurial activities and transfer of governmental property to private hands without permission of the owner.
Picket in Khakasia
The brightest event of the last week in Khakasia became a meeting in Cheremushki, a small quiet town of energy workers. Construction workers of the additional shore spillway of Sayano-Shushenskaya hydropower station expressed protest against the wage policy of their employer – subcontractor Mostotrest-2005 LLC. Protesting construction worker declared that a number of articles of their labor contracts had been violated by the employer, including non-payment of due compensations and sending people on vacation without severance.
