Deputies

Deputies of Khakasia are going to review draft law on the number of deputies in the legislative chamber of the Republic. It is suggested that the ultimate number of people’s representatives is cut down to 25, instead of current 75 deputies.

This goes in accord with the course suggested by the Russian President. Dmitry Medvedev asked local authorities to optimize the number of deputies and bring it in tune with the amount of population in the region and the level of its economic development.

Governor of Krasnoyarsk

New governor of Krasnoyarsk region Lev Kuznetsov officially entered the post on February 17, 2010. He is going to decide upon the structure of his office with one month. “I saw the work of the government from the outside and found that work with certain issue were more process-oriented, not result-oriented. We need to get rid of this approach”, he said.

Mayor of Irkutsk

Sergey Serebrennikov was been officially acknowledged acting mayor of Irkutsk. Regional prosecution conducted a check-up and found the decision to make him acting mayor quite legal. Assignment of Sergey Serebrennikov was made according to all the general regulations of self-governance, Charter of Irkutsk and Labor Code of Russia.

New federal inspector

Governor of Zabaikalsky Region Ravil Geniatulin introduced the new federal inspector of the Siberian Federal District, Bair Zhamsyev. The federal inspector is part of the team of the plenipotentiary presidential envoy in Siberia, Anatoly Kvashnin.

Bair Zhamsyev used to work in the President of Russia Office and also in the administration of Buryatia.

Dumping of waste

A criminal case was started in Buryatia to investigate oil waste dumping. Soil polluted with liquid oil was dumped from the railway cars in a recent accident. Russian Railways Eastern Siberia Branch reported that polluted soil had been transported to the place of refining, but later 14 dump cars of this soil were found near the place of accident and the need for criminal investigation became obvious.
